Student Council

Great Leaders don’t set out to be leaders… They set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role — it’s always about the goal.

At The City School International – Sharjah, we are committed to nurturing such leaders within our school community. TCSI Sharjah provides meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership skills, contribute to positive change, and actively represent the student voice. Through the Student Council platform, learners are empowered to set clear goals and work collaboratively to achieve them.

Prefects are selected from Year 3 to Year 13, reflecting leadership development across all age groups. The Head Boy and Head Girl are elected from Year 13 by the student body after successfully completing interviews and presenting their ideas, vision, and responsibilities during a formal school assembly.

The Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl are elected through a combined voting process involving both teachers and students. Candidates go through a comprehensive leadership journey that includes interviews, logo designing, public speaking, canvassing, and final elections — ensuring that those selected truly embody the values of leadership and service.

Opportunities are also extended to sports enthusiasts through roles such as Sports Captain, House Captains, and Vice Captains. In addition, a dedicated panel appoints student leaders for key focus areas including Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Inclusion and Wellbeing, UAE Culture, Media & Communication, and Discipline.

These leadership opportunities play a transformative role in shaping students’ personalities. They cultivate a strong sense of responsibility, confidence, empathy, collaboration, and sound decision-making skills.

The Student Council at TCSI Sharjah has proudly developed many young leaders who continue to make a meaningful difference — not only within the school, but also in the wider community — by setting purposeful goals and striving to achieve them with dedication and integrity.
